Inspired by Psalm 118 and a painting my daughters made years ago, Rejoice And Be Glad is a song about faith, family, and gratitude. It’s a reminder to cherish everyday blessings, stand strong through trials, and celebrate the gift of life and love together.
Lyrics
In an old farmhouse on a country road,
I learned a love to carry my load,
Grace from above and my family of mine,
I thank God for every day I’m alive.
Mom worked at the church for little pay,
The factory's where Dad spent his days,
They worked and struggled through all the tests,
Their sacrifice taught us to give it our best.
This is the day that the Lord has made,
His love and grace light up our way.
Together we stand, together we grow,
Let us rejoice and be glad, and let it show.
Big brother’s gone, left us too young,
Little sis and I keep moving on.
Looking after our folks as they try to get by,
The phrase "golden years" might be a lie.
Now raising my own, with each passing day,
Blessed with a wife, hand in hand all the way.
She’s a gift from God, for the kids and me,
Together we stand through all that may be.
Sunday morning, the church bells chime,
Life moves fast, but we draw the line.
No matter the rush or the calls to stray,
Church comes first—we give Him the day.
Through trials and time, the seasons change,
But some things last, they stay the same.
When the road gets rough and trials set in,
Your love reminds me where I’ve been.
This is the day that the Lord has made,
Through ups and downs, He lights our way.
We stand as one, through great and small,
Let us rejoice and be glad through it all.
This is the day, a gift from above,
Let us rejoice and be glad in His love.
